Oh, look. It's another one of
these threads.

Did Blizzard kill World of Warcraft when it made Starcraft 2? Or Diablo III? No it didn't. Given, also, that EVE is CCP's primary source of revenue, do you think that thought would cross their minds even for a second? This statement is even more preposterous given that DUST 514 is meant to interface directly with EVE Online. Why the hell would CCP kill the game that's the primary reason for DUST 514's existence in the first place?

As I've said in several other threads before, do you think CCP is going to suddenly just stop their carefully-planned business plan because you tell them to? If this is what you honestly think,
why?

So why not make a mjor expansion to eve onlnie as it is and in the same time make Dust 514 a stand alone game like planet side.
Because if they release it on the PC, they have to
compete with Planetside 2. Not only that, but if they release it on PC, they have to compete
with their own playerbase. Time you would spend playing DUST 514 in the hypothetical universe where they release it on PC would be time you
wouldn't spend playing EVE, which is still their number-one revenue producer, and given that it's a subscription-based system, player retention is
important in a way that it isn't for free-to-play games.

You're wrong. Firstly, you've attempted to speak on behalf of a dev team that you are not a part of. Making claims about what they do and don't believe is stupid without any substantiative evidence makes you look... well,
stupid.
Secondly, releasing it on console only means that:
a. They aren't competing with Planetside 2, because Planetside 2 is PC-only.
b. They aren't competing with their own playerbase.
c. They're opening a new revenue stream from a previously untapped market - console players.
I'm not saying it's not a risky venture, but you are absolutely wrong about it being a terrible idea on basic principle.
